Some ships you sail once and check off the list. Celebrity Beyond isn’t one of them. Roxas and I have sailed her twice, in August 2024 and June 2025, and if you’re weighing a Celebrity Beyond gay cruise, our answer is simple: we’d book a third time tomorrow.
If you’re a gay couple, a solo gay traveler, or an LGBTQ+ friend group wondering whether this ship is worth it, this is our honest take after two sailings: what we loved, the one thing we didn’t, and who we think this ship is really for.

Celebrity Beyond is one of the most beautiful ships we’ve ever sailed, and one of the most comfortable for LGBTQ+ travelers. Our August 18, 2024 sailing was a 6-night Bahamas, Mexico and Cayman cruise, round-trip from Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades):

- Day 4: George Town, Grand Cayman
- Day 5: Day at sea
- Day 6: Bimini, Bahamas
- Day 7: Return to Fort Lauderdale
Heads up: when we sailed, Celebrity Beyond was based in Fort Lauderdale. She now homeports in Miami, so check the departure port when you book.
Cozumel was a highlight. We booked a day at Paradise Beach Club on our own instead of through the cruise line, and it was amazing. It was easy, relaxing, and exactly the kind of beach day you picture when you book a Caribbean cruise.
Grand Cayman gave us another fantastic beach day, with that famous turquoise water you see in every photo.
Bimini is quiet. There isn’t much to do there, so we stayed onboard, and honestly, that was a win. With most guests ashore, we had the pools, bars and loungers practically to ourselves. On a ship this beautiful, a “ship day” in port is its own kind of vacation.
Good to know: Paradise Beach Club is an easy independent booking in Cozumel. If you’re comfortable planning your own port day, it’s a great way to skip the ship excursion crowds and still get a full day of sun, drinks and water.

Is Celebrity Beyond gay-friendly? Our experience as a gay couple
Short answer: yes, completely.
We never once felt like we had to tone ourselves down. The crew treated us exactly the way they treated every other couple onboard, and that’s all most of us really want from a gay-friendly cruise line: warmth, without any awkwardness.
What impressed us most on our Celebrity Beyond gay cruise was that Celebrity didn’t just tolerate LGBTQ+ guests. It made space for us. The ship held LGBTQ+ meetups every night at the Eden Bar, and on our June 2025 sailing there was even a Pride party onboard. It felt like the whole ship was in on the celebration.
The Pride party was one of the best nights of either trip. A bunch of the crew came out to celebrate with us, and almost everyone we’d met at the nightly LGBTQ+ meetups was there. By that point in the week it didn’t feel like a cruise-line event, it felt like a party with friends. Having staff join in, not just organize it, said a lot about how welcome we were onboard.
Those meetups also changed our trips. We met several other LGBTQ+ travelers there, and some of them have become real friends. We’ve met up with them since and even cruised together again. For us, that’s the best part of gay travel: you come home with a tan and new people you want to keep in your life.
Design: why Celebrity Beyond feels like a boutique hotel at sea
Celebrity Beyond is simply stunning. Every hallway and public space feels intentional, with sculptures and art throughout the ship that make wandering around feel like touring a gallery. One of our favorite discoveries was a moody, dimly lit passage filled with design details, the kind of space you walk into with no reason and end up taking twenty photos.
If you care about aesthetics (and let’s be honest, a lot of us do), this ship delivers on style in a way very few others do. Fair warning: the statues are contagious. Roxas can’t walk past one without striking the same pose.
Our Celebrity Beyond stateroom (and the one thing we didn’t love)
Our cabin was beautiful: modern, calm and comfortable, with a design that felt more luxury hotel than cruise ship.
Here’s the honest part. We were not fans of the Infinite Veranda. Instead of a traditional balcony, the whole room becomes the “balcony”: you lower the top half of the window to let the ocean air in. In practice, it never felt like a real balcony, and when we opened it, the cabin got noticeably warm, especially on a summer Caribbean sailing.

Cabin tip: if sitting outside with your morning coffee is part of your cruise ritual, look at a stateroom with a traditional veranda instead of an Infinite Veranda.
Dining on a Celebrity Beyond gay cruise: four restaurants, no bad meals
The food is one of the biggest reasons we keep going back. Instead of one giant main dining room, Celebrity Beyond has four included main restaurants, each with its own personality:
- Tuscan for Italian classics
- Cyprus for Mediterranean flavors and seafood, a nod to Celebrity’s Greek roots
- Normandie for French dishes in an elegant, Paris-inspired room
- Cosmopolitan for contemporary American dishes, the closest thing to a traditional main dining room
You’re assigned one of the four but can dine at any of the others. Rotating through them makes a week at sea feel like a week of restaurant hopping.
I’m admittedly a picky eater, and the main dining rooms never let me down. The grilled chicken was my go-to, and it was delicious every single time, which is exactly the kind of consistency you want when you don’t love experimenting at dinner.
Our favorite dinner of the whole trip, though, was Le Petit Chef. We book it on every Celebrity sailing, and Beyond was no exception. An animated chef is projected right onto your table and plate while your meal is served. It’s playful, a little theatrical, and a great date-night dinner for couples.
And don’t sleep on the coffee. Cafe al Bacio is incredible, and we visited every single day.

The best bars on Celebrity Beyond for LGBTQ+ travelers
If there’s one area where a Celebrity Beyond gay cruise really shines, it’s the bars. There are more than a dozen bars and lounges on board, and each one has its own vibe:
- Eden Bar: our favorite, and home of the nightly LGBTQ+ meetups. Eden is a three-story space wrapped in windows and plants, with cocktails built around fresh herbs and natural ingredients. It’s the most beautiful bar we’ve found at sea.
- Martini Bar: the energetic heart of the Grand Plaza, with flair bartenders and a lively pre-show crowd. The best people-watching on the ship.
- Sunset Bar: a two-story space at the back of the ship with live music in the evenings. Go at sunset after leaving Grand Cayman. Trust us.
- World Class Bar: for slower, crafted cocktails and good conversation.
- Craft Social: Celebrity’s take on a pub, with drinks on tap.
- Mast Bar: outdoor pool-deck drinks, perfect on a quiet Bimini day onboard.
Worth noting: several of the specialty cocktails at the Eden Bar are priced above what the Premium Beverage Package covers, so expect a small upcharge on some of the most creative drinks. They’re worth it.
Nightlife and entertainment on Celebrity Beyond
The production shows were fantastic, genuinely some of the best we’ve seen at sea. The standout for us was Elements. It was incredible, and if it’s on your sailing, don’t miss it.
Honest nightlife check: Celebrity Beyond doesn’t really have a nightclub. If a late-night dance floor is a must, this isn’t that ship. Most nights, we ended up in bed by 11pm or at the casino. For us, that was perfect: great cocktails, a great show, and good sleep before a beach day. If you want a party until 3am, a dedicated gay cruise vacation or full-ship charter may be a better fit.
Celebrity Beyond vs Utopia of the Seas for gay travelers
Celebrity Beyond is one of our all-time favorite ships, right up there with Royal Caribbean’s Utopia of the Seas. The difference is the crowd. Utopia is a high-energy, family-friendly ship. Beyond is noticeably more adult-oriented. There were kids onboard, even in summer, but not many, and the overall atmosphere felt relaxed and grown-up.
For the price, Beyond was an incredible value. We paid around $1,500 per person, and for that you get premium design, food and service without the ultra-luxury price tag. Fares change with the season and cabin category, so treat that as a ballpark.
Who should book a Celebrity Beyond gay cruise
Celebrity tends to attract a more mature crowd. We’re in our late 30s and never felt out of place, and there were plenty of guests our age too. Celebrity Beyond is the right ship if:
- You want a romantic, stylish getaway as a gay couple.
- Great food and cocktails matter more to you than clubbing.
- You’re a first-time cruiser who wants a short, easy gay Caribbean cruise from Florida.
- You’re traveling with friends and want social LGBTQ+ meetups without a nonstop party scene.
Who should skip Celebrity Beyond
- You want a real nightclub and a crowd that’s still going at 2am.
- You need a traditional balcony and can only get an Infinite Veranda in your budget.
- Kids’ programming is a top priority, in which case a family-focused ship will serve you better.
